  6. Encourage Action: Encourage your friends or colleagues who receive the forwarded email to continue the chain by sending it to their own contacts.
  7. Follow Up: Keep an eye out for any responses from TIAA or from your friends who received the forwarded email. You can update TD! Of any progress.

Tell TIAA’s Board that we’ve had enough!

Dear TIAA,

 2023 was the hottest year on record and 2024 promises to be even worse. Climate scientists are warning us that if we don’t stop pouring carbon into the air Right Now that we’re facing a global catastrophe, not in 2050 but much, much sooner.

 That’s why I demand that TIAA immediately stop putting your participant’s savings into fossil fuel investments. Stop investing in Coal, oil and Gas. Stop investing in dirty power plants. And stop grabbing land from small farmers.

 I’m letting my friends know that I’m not fooled by TIAA’s public relations campaigns, and asking them to spread the word.

I’ve finally decided that I’ve had it with TIAA taking my retirement savings and “investing” them in coal, oil and gas. I want TIAA to know that I won’t stand for their buying millions of acres of farmland across the world, then poisoning them with the worst pesticides and herbicides. 

That’s why I’m sending them this message. And I hope that you will too. 

I also hope that you’ll help pressure TIAA by forwarding this entire email along to 5 of your friends or colleagues who are TIAA participants. It’s a quick and easy way to pressure TIAA to stop misusing our money.

Remember chain letters? They were a type of pyramid scheme where people would try to get their friends to forward a copy of a snail-mail letter along to their friends who would then try to do the same. Sometimes chain letters were get-rich-quick schemes, but here’s a twist on the old chain letter that can actually do some good.
