Part-time Campaign Organizer for TIAA-DIVEST  

TIAA-DIVEST! Is a campaign to force the $1.3 Trillion Teacher’s Investment and Annuity Fund to divest from fossil fuels and stop land grabs to end their contribution to climate disaster.  We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced organizer for part time work on the campaign for one year.  The position is for approximately 14 hours a week at a rate of $24/hour. The work is remote and the employee can largely choose their own work hours. 

Job Description:

This position will require involvement in all aspects of the campaign, with a focus on outreach and base building. The purpose will be to engage new supporters and motivate our current supporters to take action. The position is suited for an energetic, outgoing person.  The work will involve making numerous calls to our supporters, potential supporters and peer organizations.  The person will also create and lead a group of volunteer supporters.  The position will also involve working with 6-10 universities and colleges that are looking to pass a teacher’s resolution calling for divestment.  There will be some administrative tasks, research and writing involved.

Relevant Skills:

  • Organizing experience in various capacities
  • Passionate Commitment to fighting the financial enablers of the climate crisis
  • Strong communication skills – oral and written
  • Positive, energetic, person who likes to connect with people.
  • Time management and organization building mindset
  • Comfort with managing basic data systems, keeping data organized
  • Graphics skills a plus
  • Knowledge of/interest in financial/divestment issues
